Speed Cushions

Speed cushions are an intelligent, effective solution to traffic calming and are often more practical than speed bumps in areas with higher traffic volumes of HGVs, buses or emergency vehicles. Speed cushions are just wide enough to impact the wheels of most regular sized cars and some smaller vans. The footprint of the speed cushion is typically not wide enough to have any effect on HGVs or larger vehicles, making them perfect for main arteries, as larger vehicles are not affected.

The complete speed cushion unit is far deeper than regular speed bumps, thus encouraging motorists to drive slowly over the cushion. Speeding motorists are at risk of driving over the plateau which can be up to 75mm tall, so safe driving is further encouraged because motorists will be able to drive over the lower level of the incline if driving slowly.
